OT: DC at it again

it does. my '04.5 cummins 4x4 dodge stickered for nearly $45,000. using the chrysler employee choice program i purchased the truck for $33,280. using the same program on my '05 rubicon the discount wasnt as hefty (less markup on the jeep than the cummins) but it was still a steep discount.

That's good. If they didn't give a significant discount, then I would have to side with the workers who compare all of the competition and choose the best deal. Well, I still side with choosing the best deal, but an employee discount certainly tips the scales towards the employer's product in that evaluation.

I've heard rumors that many Microsoft employees have iPods and that some of their departments are now rather "unsupportive" of it. (considering MS has a competing product in the same market) I just find that somewhat amusing.

After all your grief with DC you now work for them? Wow

It's good that they give their employees a discount. But is that enough to buy loyalty? As defined at dictionary.com loyalty is a feeling or attitude of devoted attachment and affection.

Every corporation with publicly traded stock has loyalty, to Wall Street and their stock holders. IMHO working for corporate America is like dating a "lady of the evening." Her pimp is Wall Street and that is where her loyalty lies. You can have fun, use the benefits, but she doesn't love you and never will. If things start going badly for her, YOU need to find a new "girl friend" before she dumps you, because she most certainly will if it is in her best interest.

How do I come to this opinion? Well lets just say I've been on both sides of the relationship. When you're the "lady of the evening" you need your Johns. You need them to come to work everyday, with a good attitude, and work hard. And sometimes in order to survive you need them to go away and never come back. To keep your Johns happy you give them benefits, holidays, bonuses, etc. Personally I never lied to them and I tried to explain our relationship. But I've been the John and been lied to about how things really work.

So if by loyalty you mean coming to work on time, working hard and with a good attitude I couldn't agree with you more. (as a John I hate working with bad attitude people too.) But if you mean you stick by your company no matter what happens then I think your loyalty is misplaced. Your loyalty should be to you, your family, friends and community first.

The Kenosha Engine Plant still exists. That's where the 4.0's come from -- at least while they're still being built... :(

It's been remodeled a little bit over the years with some of the original buildings being razed and new ones being constructed.

Here's a satellite photo. That's the current engine plant is in the center of the picture:

The parking lots just to the west of the plant (30th avenue) used to have the signs saying that parking was reserved for AMC vehicles. I think that they now say "Chrysler vehicles", but I haven't specifically looked for quite some time...

Going east (and slightly north) from there, here's the site of the former Lakefront Plant. This is probably the one that you're thinking of when referring to a park. It's both a park and condos now:

These satellite photos were taken before many of the condos were built.

product, just so long as it comes with a steep discount. My employer gives its product to employees free as a benefit of employment. Admittedly you'd never what to have to use our product, but that's another story

no, not coffins. I work for a pharmaceutical company. The only time you use our products is when you're not feeling well.
