Re: 97 Wrangler Sway Bar Problems

I snapped mine on the trail... and had those exact same symptoms. It'll get worse when the rubber around the ball joint tears. If your going to stay stock, find someone that replaced theirs with quick-discos, otherwise get yourself a set.

I already offered my one good link to someone else on the board. If he doesn't reply back in a few days, you can have it for cost of shipping.

I have a 97 Jeep wrangler and for about a month now I've been hearing > a pop in the front end when I either hit a bump or turn. I can make > it pop if I rock the Jeep from side to side I looked and I can see the > Sway Bar link popping when I rock it. Is this definately the problem > or could it potentially be something else. Definitely the sway bar link. I have already replaced both sides on my wife's TJ.

I really like the Teraflex quick disconnects. They are a piece of cake to install, and easy to disconnect/reconnect when you're out on the trails (I've heard other brands are really picky and you MUST be on level ground... not in my experience with these). They also have a pin that you can install in your frame to hold your swaybar out of the way when you're on the trail.

Teraflex

Bob Supplee usually has the best prices on them.

How do you "chunk" a sway bar? If you mean "chuck", that's bad advice. I sincerely hope you're not driving around in a TJ without a sway bar!

I did that for about 10 days until I could get my teraflex disconnects... scary stuff if you have to hit the brakes hard or avoid something in the road...
