Rough run after oil change

I recently purchased a 2000 2.5L Wrangler SE. I just personally finished putting 6000 miles on it, and hence, just got my second oil change. I used Mobil 1 10W-30 synthetic oil both times.

I've noticed that both times I changed the oil, it seems that she looses a bit of power and feels sluggish compared to before the oil change. After 1500 miles or so, she seems to gain it back. Any ideas why this may be happening?

Just speculation, but the oil can get diluted with gas and combustion by products over time. This thins the oil.

The new oil will be thicker and account for the symptoms you describe, but this tends to be more common with high mileage vehicles. You could have an internal coolant leak, I suppose.

Try a thinner weight oil.

For extreme values of speed and probably trivial values of speed increase, there may even be some small truth to this. Granted few ever get to run Bonneville or even the Mulsanne Straight to test this.

Still struggl> Some people believe their car runs faster after it's been waxed, > too.

An oil change with the proper weight oil should not make any difference in power. 10W30 is the proper weight oil.

65000 total miles. Purchased her at 59000 with oil changes at ~62000 and ~65000.

Haven't noticed any speed differences before/after waxing, however, driving characteristics are different before/after oil changes.
