Sticking open fuel float

Did away with that filter long ago ... but the thing is I'm cheap, and lazy, eh ... and the carb works just great except for the 2 or 3 times a year that the float sticks. So I'm thinking maybe some buddy's had a similar problem, maybe poured in some brand X carb cleaner, let it soak overnight ... and next day the problem was gone, never to return. Else ... the best I've seen so far is ...

"sticking float": to correct the problem, lightly tap the carburetor fuel inlet area with the handle of a screwdriver. If flooding continues, pinch the fuel line (if possible). Start the engine and let it run until it stops. Release line and restart engine. If flooding persists examine the float level, and float drop. Adjust or replace parts if necessary.
