Temp Sensor in 98 5.9 limited

Mar 05, 2006 1 Replies

Just bought my wife a 98 5.9 limited, wish I had bougt it for me instead. Only problem I've had so far is my temperature gauge on the dash is not working, it stays down at the bottom of the scale at all times, She's been driving it just around town. Checked the block temp with my fluke temp meter and it was at what seemed to be a normal temp. I bought a new sensor at AutoZone, but it doesn't match either of the ones in the rad. hoses. Which sensor is slaved to the gauge, or does it get the info from the ecu based on more than one sensor? Any help on this is appreciated.

TIA Misha

They usually screw into the cylinder head, or the intake manifold on a V8. Maybe the thermostat housing.
