I was talking with my neighbor and he says there is an offroad trail that goes from London, Kentucky to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. According to him it takes about 2 days to cross and you'll need to take your gas cans because there isn't a gas station anywhere.
I tried looking on the 'net for this trail but can't find it. Anyone ever hear of this trail? Sounds like a good Memorial Day weekend camping trip.

It's unlikely such a trail still exists, however there's a way to find out if it did within the last 25 years or so. Check out the National Geographic KY & TN maps sold for GPS units. You may be able to find them at a good library. Most of them date back decades and will show all of the trails that existed at that time.
The reason I doubt it exists id s that a trail like that would be hard to keep secret for long, plus ther's probably not that much public land left in the area.
The ones for Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, etc. are a revelation, they show you just where they are (were). It is kind of depressing to see just how many trails have been lost to development & closures, however.

What you're talking about MIGHT be part of the old Natchez Trace, a trail that's over 200 years old. It ran from the Mississippi river north of New Orleans in the Louisiana purchase to the Chesapeake Bay area. A lot of it is now U.S. hiways, but parts of the original rough trail may still exist, particularly in the forests and mountains of Kentucky and Tennessee.

Is it Jeepable? Or just for enduros....?
I know a large portion of it is made up of Jeep trails and fire roads, but parts are probably only passible by the enduros or MacGiver types. The guys that ride this trail via enduro are two wheeled Jeepers, for sure. Very interesting reading.
