A friend of mine has blown the head gasket on her 300TDi and it would seem that the head has warped beyond redemption. Has anyone got a known good 300TDi head (or full engine if the price is right) that they'd like to convert to beer tokens?

She failed to check water & oil before a longish journey towing a horsebox on a very hot day & boiled over. All seemed well on recovery, topping up water & oil - slight loss of water over a few days later was cured with Radweld. Then after a long journey the head gasket went within a mile of the previous incident.

Might be worth getting the radiator checked .. take it out completely. Mine kept overheating, head gasket replaced, did it again .. I took fan/rad out and all the fins were missing off the back, where they couldn't be seen!! Don't forget the rad on the 300Tdi also holds the oil cooler, so once the water isn't cooling, the oil isn't being cooled either .. I reckon it's this that does the real damage.
Got the HG's done for free and paid only parts for the rad at local place who did the HGF that wasn't .. ;)
Trouble with Ally head'd Steel block engines (all types) once cooked, the damage is done.
Head off, Skimm'd & recon'd (if possible), new water pump, thermostat (and gaskets of course) and by the sound of it the Rad' too, a good flush out of the rest, and hopefully if none of the pistons are cooked, business as usual Sir. (and a light wallet!)
Talk to Turner Engineering. What they don't know about the LR 4 pot motors, isn't worth knowing!
