I had my pads changed at the dealer did all 4 wheels, 5 mnths ago. my brake pedal seems to be traveling farther than before I added some fluid but wonder if its a good idea to take out some and put fresh in to sort of change fluid without having to climb under and start bleeding stuff. I did this to my power steering fluid with good results it was leaking at the hose to the pump lp. Now I notice a smell in the engine are that seems to come into the cab through the heater could this be from antifreeze or is this a sign my gaskets leaking. I know its a lot but I am doing alot myself these days and last time the guys were right on. tia peter

don't be a wuss get under and get bleeding the brakes - seriously tho' the only way to get fresh fliud where it will do any good is to bleed the system pouring into the header just fills the header unlike the power steering there is no recirculation so what is in the calipers more or less stays there. It shouldn't take very long, odd tho' normally it is time to bleed when the pedal feels spongey. Could be a leak about the heater matrix or the feed pipes these do smell into the cab check where they go through the bulkhead. Its handy its so cold atm after a run when the engine is good and hot open the bonnet wait a couple of minutes then start looking for vapour . That said the screen wash I use smells very like antifreeze.
