Driving to work the other day in my SIII, I thought how nice it would be to plug in my USB phone charging lead into the vehicle. Has anyone added USB ports to their dash? Jon

Don't USB ports only supply +/- 5V
So you might have to build a voltage regulator
It would be much easier to use a normal Cigar Lighter charger
Mike
Just found the pinouts
Pin Name Description Cable Colour 1 Vcc +5V DC Red 2 D- Data - White 3 D+ Data + Green 4 Gnd Ground Black
I've got a lighter charger - it powers the dash mounted heater..... Thanks for the pinout. I can fit a voltage regulator so (in theory) my plan should work. Jon
You could always get a double socket adaptor for the cigar socket
:O)

At the moment I can boot from handle or starter motor. I think I'd need a bios upgrade to take a HD - although the extra capacity would be handy for visits to the tip. Jon
What you do is fit a mini-ITX board, turning your Landie into the biggest mobile computer of the 21st century, so far.
USB and series 3 sounds like an enormos culture clash to me, why not get an inverter and use your mains leads.

Yeah, I'm sure there will be some kind of time warp or something if you try it.

And how do you find the performance of your dash mounted heater?
