Any news about SAFETY DEVICES?

People Hi,

it has today been announced through one of the main LR related fora (forums) that SAFETY DEVICES has entered into receivership or something like that (shutting down, filing for closure etc)

Can anyone please confirm the truth of that?

It is a bit strange for such a thing to happen so suddenly and especially considering that their new internet site has been introduced a few weeks ago, that they were enquiring for new worldwide distributors and more so because of the event they had announced.

Awaiting for your kind input.

If it is true it will be an extremely sad development in view of the strong connections of the company with LR.

I'd heard they'd gone into administration - this is different than going into receivership; it means that an administrator is appointed on behalf of creditors to run the company and either trade them out of a debt / cashflow problem, or sell off the assets. It doesn't necessarily mean they're going out of business, although that's one possibility.

However, this is all rumour and I've not heard anything "official".

David Hi,

this is far better than what I heard and it makes me feel less sorry. It is always a shame and very sad to hear that such well known companies so closely related to Land Rover and its vehicles have problems.

Lets hope that the admistrators will be able to pull the company out of trouble, if of course the rumours are true.

Anyone knows what will happen with the Safety Devices weekend?

Take care Pantelis

I've now heard, also through the rumour mill, that they have now been declared in receivership - this means they have gone out of business, after all. Somebody could still buy the company up and carry on trading though; the brand must be worth something.

This may be what we did not wish to see:

However it may not be 'our' firm. I don't have enough information to make a positive connection.

Nothing on the Safety Devices web site, and they are based in Soham, Cambs, although they might have an office address in Cheltenham?
