Defender Bonnet Stay's... Alternatives?

Nov 03, 2005 3 Replies

I have just fitted a York compressor to my Defender 200tdi. It is mounted vertically above where the original A/C compresssor was designed to fit.

The only problem I have is that the bonnect stay vibrates against the side of the compressor and fouls it when I shut the bonnet (unless I manually move it to the left).

Question: Any other thoughts on alternative bonnet stays? I wondered about one or two gas struts? Perhaps something off a Rover 800 - they had big bonnets and rear boots (hatch version)? How do they fasten to bodywork?

Simply moving the existing stay to the other side wont be posisble due to air filter etc etc.

Thanks Jon

How about:

ALR6225 Bonnet Stay - Rod Type - Defender £16.33 inc VAT

It clips to the bonnet for closing (you'll need a clip to hold it), the other brackets are already on the bonnet.

Thanks Richard, Is this for a TD5 Defender by any chance? I assume other than the rod itself and clip everything else will just fin no problems?

Jon

Ah, right! Offically Td5's have an entirely different arrangemen(i.e. on vehicles from XA159807) - though some at least have the "traditional" scissor prop.
