Electrical /Computer Systems Expert Required

2005 Range Rover

I have a problem with my touch screen and associated functions.

Every three days or so I find that the touch screen has no power and all the systems associated with it do not function. Left in this state for a further couple of days and my fitted Nokia phone's battery goes flat.

I can temporarily fix the problem by removing and refitting the systems

30A fuse (the fuse has NOT blown BTW). When I do this the system seems to re-boot and comes back to life (sometimes with a message that a new key has been found and that personalisation settings have been restored). The system will then be OK for a few days with all functions working as they should until I return to the car to find the system dead again.

Has anyone had any experience with power problems with this system?

Another quick question. Do the two air-conditioning drain tubes originate at the same location? I want to sanitize the system but don't want to inject the cleaner up the wrong tube.

Thanks for any help or advice

You'll probably have to go to a reputable and respected independent specialist, or an authorized dealer.

Those "in car" systems are totally closed to outside fiddling, so unlike a normal PC or laptop, there is next to no access (documented in the public domain at least) to fix things like this.

There are though, rumors that such interconnected things like phones can introduce problems if malicious text messages are received "Targeted" at a known make of phone/car etc. Not good.
