Making up Disco Brake Pipes

Mar 16, 2009 1 Replies

Hi, I need to make up some front brake pipes (both male ends). I do have a flaring kit but don't know if I need to make single or double flared pipes. Wanted to practice and get them ready before removing the old rusty ones. Can anyone advise please.

Leave them as a single convex flare until you remove the old pipes and check what comes off, it will only take a minute to use the 2nd die to change them if you have to. I usually make the new pipes up using the old ones as patterns for length and shape as they come off, much easier. And screw some new female ends loosely on the ends while you fit the pipes, saves you getting any gunge in the new pipe as you poke it through a hole etc.
