Draining Swivels

What did they say matey? The drain is at the bottom, small nut type thing

Is the drain pointing down or just the lowest obviously removable nut???

Swivels are very pitted so they advised to change both as a new seal will just get damaged. Ordered 2 complete kits from Paddocks but need to put the one-shot in so it will be usable for the next few days. Then need to book in to SP or Old Mill to get the job done ASAP.

Will get the grease tomorrow and put it in, hopefully will be an easy job.

If the seals and housings are that bad that it's pissed all the oil out, it shouldn't need draining, just stick the one shot in if it's only to get you over the next few days until you get it fixed properly, but it seems a terrible waste of grease.

IIRC it's a fiddlin' little bolt, about 10mm head or something. mebbe 12mm, and I do recall it being low on the swivel facing sideways. Look for a small bolt head which is not obviously there to attach anything.

I recall it being on the side too, prolly so it doesn't get biffed when off-roading.

Warm the one-shot grease before putting it in, it makes it a lot easier. Got a feeling I used a big syringe and a bit of tubing for the job too. Only did it once, so no expert! TonyB

Just done the job, was pretty easy if a little messy. The oil that came out was muddy and silty despite only being put in on Friday so I do need to get the swivels and seals done soon!!

I put the grease container in a bucket of hot water.

Oh, and turn the steering to full lock, so the filler hole is not above the inner swivel housing.
