Not sure...

which is worse: the Disco, where the whole dash comes out in one lump, or the RR where it's all in separate bits.

I can confirm that you can get access to the heater motor (but not remove it) and access to the resistor pack (and be able to replace it) by removing the left side and center lower dash panels and the vent rail.

Whether you could get the heater out to change the motor, I don't know - possibly, but it'd likely be easier to get the whole dash out.

Motor had got stuck, now free-ed off again after a fashion: the one bearing is stuck on the shaft and spinning in the housing, so it'll fail eventually.

I assume from the repsonses that no-one's after my Rangie... but if you are, the heater now works again but only on full speed, I assume the resistors have failed and I don't have any spares.

Austin mate I would love to buy your Rangie but I'm in denial even one of the Scoobies (outback) has dripped a patch of oil on the drive to make me feel as if I still have one. Its a good job you live so far away or I'd be round in a flash. Derek even the colours right........
