Well, found out the hard way just how much a centre diff lock is necessary. My series 2 Discovery failed miserably trying to climb a sand hill. The front wheels just sat there spinning, the back ones stationery. Someone on the newsgroup sells a kit. If they could reply, would be appreciated. (email address is spam trapped but easy enough to work out)
