OT: computer problems

Is it actually connecting to the tinternet? Maybe the pages you can see are preloaded from past visits there. Try a search on google for something you never searched for before such as armadios..... assuming of course you've not search for armadilos before!

At least you will then know if it's actually got a tinternet connection.

I'm not sure to be honest, if you search for aardvarks for example (!) the dell search page comes up with some suggestions of webpages to go to so i guess it must be searching on the internet for them it just cannot bring them up. Any ideas? Dave

Dave is the internet cache full? My mate had similar trouble but when I had a look he had not cleaned up his internet visits for almost a year and the memory was full. Ten minutes later he was up and running.

aha, have fixed it but not entirely sure why. I had a look on the microsoft site and reset all the internet explorer settings , seems to be tickedy-boo. Plus, I now have a new found interest in aardvarks and armadillos

Your ISP may be having problems with it's DNS (Domain Name Server) try re-booting Modem/router etc then go to "network conection" and do a R/Click then "repair"

Should flush everything out. Failing that, force the use of an alternative DNS if you can find an alternative one for your ISP.

I've had the same problem last week through UK-online (sky I guess would be effected too) this seems to be related to some "software upgrades" on their network which are being done region by region.

It's got some nice security enhancements as well (blocks many known malicious websites i.e. ones with code that tries to compromise your system via the browser).

I've been using it for a year or so now and find it far more reliable than my ISP's DNS servers.

Ive used open dns on my NTL and Be accounts... Never had any DNS issues and pages seem to resolve a lot quicker.
