OT-ish - Air Compressors

Could anyone tell me how much air I need from a compressor? I want to do the odd bit of spraying, squirt a bit of Dinitrol, run an impact driver, perhaps a bit of blasting - the usual DIY stuff. The one I have in mind is



2HP, 6.3 cfm max, 5.2 cfm @ 40 psi, 4.0 cfm @ 90 psi, 115 psi max - is this man enough?

How big's the receiver (tank)? While the numbers you list sound pretty good to me, if you've got a sensible sized receiver it lets you average out your air consumption over the duty cycle.

For blasting you really need about 11 - 14 cfm. Everything else that you list can be done with your chosen compressor. Bear in mind that you will need an oil free feed for paint spraying. This can either be with an oil free compressor, or by removing the oil before it gets to the sprayer. Machine Mart sell just about everything that you will need - you can look up the CFMs needed for the tools in their catalogue. Jon

I have a smallish compressor

\)and it is fine for most things. Won't do HVLP spraying, and it runs quite a lot when using air tools. A bigger tank would be a bonus, and if I was buying again I would probably go for a 50 litre tank.
