I've done a very similar thing recently. I had to make Galv sheet 'U' sections for the top of the stable doors. (stops the nags chewing the wood to bits) I used steel box section as the former and G clamps etc. I had to bend the metal in stages with a heavy hammer, the result was good, but certainly wouldn't meet the cosmetic standards required for a fuel tank.
