Range Rover Classic lse 1994 fuel pump conundrum

Hi, Hope some one can help shed a little light on this problem. I am getting no power at my fuel pump. Fuses are fine (1 in dash and one under the drivers seat.) On the relay i am getting battery voltage on brown/green 30 wire with ignition on. no power from either white/purple 87 to pump (via inertia switch which tests ok) or white and orange 87a to L and R lambda sensors. Pins 86 white/grey (connects to pin 19 on ECU and +bat via dash fuse c4) has 12v and pin 85 blue/purple (to pin 16 on ecu) also seems to have 12v. It seems to me that pin 85 should ground thru ecu to energise relay but as I say seems to be sitting at 12 v and thus not energising the relay. Any idea why (apart from dead ecu)? Is it just replacable with a normal relay? Swopped relay with same type silver capped relay under chair so reasonably sure relay is ok.

As a byword, it also has an LPG system which will run great if I apply power manually to the pump and start up then switch to gas. Where is the usual place for LPG installer to switch off petrol pump when on gas?

Any input appreciated and I am at headscratching phase!!!!

Has the inertia switch been triggered ? (cuts the fuel in the event of a crash)

Hi Marc, thanks for your reply. Inertia switch looks to be ok, not been triggered and seems to meter out ok. I have had another fiddle and if I earth the blue and purple relay wire the relay will click. Think I will pull the inertia switch and have a look anyway.

Any other input REALLY appreciated (before I just hardwire in a switch and relay)

cheers, roger

Seem to recall you've checked out a whole pile of +12Vs around the circuit but have you checked the other half i.e. the earths? Auto electrics are not reknown for the quality of their earth returns.

Good point. Yes I have checked out all I can find. Pump earth is good, dont think inertia switch has one, it just looks to be in line between pump and relay. According to the diagram I have (1992 but mine IS a 94 not softdash) it looks like the relay should get an earth 'trigger' from pin 16 of ECU. If I earth pin 85 on relay (via my meter set to mA) it reads 150mA and will trigger the relay. I guess I should check wire between ecu and relay and pull the inertia switch and check it. Does anyone actually have the electrical troubleshooting manual (ETM) for a

94 LSE? I need the EFI section PDF. If anyone does and could email it I would be grateful. snipped-for-privacy@btinternet.com

Thanks in advance for any help too.
