replacing fuel filter air in system

just reading the haynes manual about replacing the fuel filter they say its important not to get air in the system or the system will require bleeding. just seen a website that says that 200tdi and 300tdi are self bleeding, and not to worry about getting air in the system. are they self bleeding?

To an extent - if you fill the new filter with fuel you will have no problems. If you fit it empty, just occasionaly they decide to want bleeding.

Hi m8

Just Crank It Over You Might Need To Open Injector Tops & Let Derv Out Then Tighten

There is a bleed screw on top of the filter housing, just open this and manually pump the lift pump to expell the air. All will then be OK.
