I've done this on a 200Tdi with no ill effects. Don't spose the 300 would be vastly different.

happens a lot with egr valves. On cars we just cut a piece of steel the same shape as the place where the egr valve fastens to the manifold (like a gasket but with no hole in the middle) and fit that to block it all off no more egr no more problem.

I know of several people, myself included, who have blanked off the EGR system on a 300Tdi with absolutely no ill effects whatsoever. It even passed the emissions test at MOT time.

Blanking it off is very easy - just cut a suitably shaped piece out of the bottom of a tin can, drill a couple of holes and fit it using gasket sealant. 15 minute job and a lot less costly than replacement.

On the 300 it is not a problem disconnecting it at all an in fact you may notice that the car goes better as a result.

Bit of a waste of money having it fixed.
