Pontardawe lot charge 25 quid for a day. some seem to charge more than that.

I thought 25 quid was a reasonable price, considering what you get, but I've not been to Tixover, so don't know if that's true there.

We were charging £13 a vehicle, this covered the "rental" of the site and enabled us to give the "profit" we made to charity.

I've been to a few 4x4 days around these parts. They were commercially run at £20 per day, which is fair enough - if you don't rate it you don't have to go.

I stopped going primarily because of a few very dangerous incidents, all of which were caused by the marshalls.

One incident involved a marshall instructing 2 bystanders to push a Suzuki UP a muddy hill whilst it was simultaneously being towed out by another Suzuki (which had failed and rolled back twice previously) and another involved a marshall strolling around swigging Tesco lager. I'd hope the LRO days were more professionally run.

This counts as criminal negligence. I'd have demanded my money back and left the site immediately.

Also, many people will be unaware that (unless an exemption has been obtained through the likes of ARC) such events, although not on the public highway, are still subject to the Road Traffic Act.

I witnessed the first incident whilst stuck, so it wasn't much of an option! Besides, people can make their own mind up. I voted with my feet and haven't been back since. It was 'pay and play' so I paid and I played and went home, and steered clear of the loonies.

Hmmm, so they have to have the usual compliment of working lights, tax and insurance, which other bits of the act would apply to this situation? Or am I being even more dense than usual....

ALL legislation that applies to the highway applies to such events.

A number of years ago a couple of participants in an RTV type event were charged with wreckless/dangerous driving.
