Tyre Change

Feb 18, 2005 1 Replies

Hi

I have had my Freelander for 6 months now (2003 MY). I have never had one before and the front tyres need changing. Is it true that they have to be replaced as a pair?

Yes, that's the same on any vehicle AFAIK you should always replace both tyres on the same axle at the same time.

You might also need to replace the rear tyres if they show any sign of the infamous Freelander "stepping". (They develop what can best be described as a sawtooth pattern of wear on the rear tyres where they still have a lot of tread left but it wears in a peculiar way leading to a rumbling noise from the rear.)
