Interesting Lexus Article

The shortcut below is an English Newspaper article re: Lexus. Not only does it make an interesting read, but I'd be interested to hear your comments reference the prices we have to pay for cars in the UK, compared to where you live. (The prices are at the bottom of the article).

For any of you not living in England, I point out that 'Green' cars here are very important (not just from an environmental perspective) but also due to the fact if you have a car supplied here by your employer, (and 75-85% of management here do) depending upon the make and its emissions, the tax authorities take the list price of the car, divide this by 3 (i.e.: say £60,000 / 3 = £20,000) and class the £20,000 figure as earned income and charge you 40% income tax on that! In addition, Lead Free fuel here is now a few pennies short of £5.00 per gallon!

Wow - I don't know where you buy your petrol but I pay around 95 pence per litre, which works out at £4.32 a gallon. However, we should explain for those on the other side of the Atlantic that a UK gallon is a bit bigger than a US gallon so on a "like for like" basis we pay around $7.50 for a US gallon.

your fuel doesn't cost any more than ours, the difference in price is because your government funds it's socialist programs with high fuel taxes, if you want womb to tomb welfare benefits the money needs to come from somewhere and in the UK its from fuel taxes

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American... There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people." Theodore Roosevelt

That is a great article...

It stand to reason that the number one car manufacturer in the world is Toyota. And the Lexus brand and particularly LS model are the cause for that.

In the US Lexus last a few days on the lot, versus the American counterparts that RUST on the lots.....
