Rattle on an ES330

Jan 16, 2006 2 Replies

If you are a 2005 or 2006 ES 330 owner does your car make any noise when going over a wash-board like road? If so, did you able to get it fixed? If so, did the shop specifiy what the problem is and what was done to fix the problem?

I bought my 2005 ES330 used with about 7000 miles on it. I have noticed that I hear noises periodically that seem to come from the dash on the drivers side up by the window. I have had it into the shop once and they said they thought they had fixed it but didn't. I want to get it back in but this time I really want it fixed and was hoping that if this was a common thing I could pass on the solution.

Thanks,

The ES3xx series has been plagued with interior rattles since 2002, at the introduction of the redesigned ES300. They have had several TSB's on the different rattles, including a sun/moon roof fix and a door panel fix. In my case, I also had a dash rattle that was due to a bad windshield clip. Not exactly Toyota/Lexus quality, but Toyota isn't the same company today either. Just wait until you have fun with the transmission lag issue...that one could drive you nuts.

I have an ES 330 I bought new. It has about 4000 miles on it. I'm getting no noise, but I notice that I feel almost every bump in the road. Also, I have the optional 17" wheels with the Bridgestone "Performance Tires." I now think I should have gotten the 16". At highway speeds, you really must pay attention or you can easily wander out of your lane. I get a little hyper when I'm next to one of those enormous double or triple header trucks that own the road. I like the car, overall, but it is not perfect. Rear leg room is insufficient, those 17" tires can wear out fast, and the transmission could be smoother. My transmission feels a bit better since putting some miles on the car, but my wife's 2004 Camry is smoother. I didn't get that transmission software update that Lexus came out with, since they told me that, once installed, it can't be reversed. Although my transmission is not perfect, I'll live with it rather than chance it getting worse by installing that "update" which, in some cases, makes things worse. It is a comfortable car on the highway for the front two seats. (providing you don't wander too much.) However, things get pretty cramped for four people Al
