I'm not an agressive (sports) driver and bought the car for a quiet smooth ride to work each day (30 miles on the highway each day). I love it. Plus, the interior quality is top notch. Depends on what you are looking for. My only complaint is that the black interior picks up a lot of dust. But that is the black interiors fault, not the cars. Good luck.

And if you've ever owned a BMW and a Lexus, like me, then you also know the pleasure of going from pleasant, but reliable transportation (Lexus) to something that is actually enjoyable to drive (BMW) as opposed to just ride in and steer.

Both are very nice, one is better if you want to be a passenger, the other if you want to be a driver.

One is better if you don't mind spending a bunch of time and money on repairs, the other if you want the car to just work and not get in your way of going about your life.

I'd love to say my 2002 ES300 has been pleasant and trouble-free, but I can not. I thought my first (and only) Lexus would be a much better experience, but the tranny lag (even after 3 software patches) has been pretty frustrating, and at times, dangerous. I drive in a pretty hilly terrain, mostly interstate driving. The symptoms have been covered in this newsgroup numerous times, so I won't be redundant, but the problem remains. Considering trading in for a new Camry. I figure if Toyota is going to have buggy ECU software, I'd feel better if it was only in a Camry than in an ES300...I'll feel less screwed. I still think Toyota is one of the most reliable and best engineered cars on the market, I just am of the opinion that their engineers have not been at the top of their game for the past 5 years.
