Slight 'clunking' in LS 400 going over bumps

Is this some kind of worn out a-arm bushing? It's subtle, and doesn't happen on every kind of bump--just sometimes. Anyone else notice this? 73,000 miles on the car.

Front or rear? Maybe rear knuckle bushing? Had mine replaced with similar symptom.

My 1992 ES300 does the same thing...a "clunk" sound when going over speedbumps, turning onto aprons, etc. I was told by a mechanic or two that the problem is that the bushings on the front lower control arms are worn out. I was also told that the bushing itself can not just be replaced. The whole control arm, which includes the bushings, must be replaced, on the left and right sides of the car... this is not cheap. Then after they are replaced, a front end alingment is necessary. More $$$$$$$. I'm not sure my ES and your LS are similarly designed, though. P.S. I have driven the car with worn out bushings for over a year.

Check your shocks top isolation rubber, it could be the noisy part. It happens to my 1998 LS400, it needs replacement after time due to rubber wear, when damaged the spring coil hits the metallic top stopper which produces the sound. It costs around 30$ parts and 30$ labor each tire at a private shop.
