is there an easy method to replacing alternator belt on a vectra, its a right bitch, i hadto replace power steering pump the last time i put it back on.

This is an Ecotec engine right? I'm decribing an Omega here but it's the same engine so I would guess the belt is similar. Above and to the right of the crank pulley is the tensioner. Get a socket on its centre bolt - you might need a short extension to clear the pipework - and turn it, clockwise ISTR, which will give enough slack in the belt to release it. It's strongly sprung, so you might need an assistant to hold that while you do the belt, but on the Omega I can do it on my own.
