Guy King ( snipped-for-privacy@zetnet.co.uk) gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying :
Do the calipers have anything cast onto them? Any subtle hints like the word "Bendix" or the word "Girling"?
The message from Adrian contains these words:
She was sitting in the car waiting to drive off - so I only had time to grab a photo, not take the wheels off and have a look. I was hoping to order the bits today before she gets home.
Obviously when she's home tonight I can take 'em off and have a look!
Looks like ones on my old renault 5's ;)
The picture isnt clear enough im afraid but if you have a haynes its pretty easy to tell the two apart from the pictures and the shape of the pads :)
Look foreign to me, so not Girling. Don't go out and buy anything on the strength of this, though. ;-)
The message from "Dave Plowman (News)" contains these words:
Renault list Girlong or Bendix as the two alternatives.
Got rather busy this evening, so I still ain't had a chance to pull it!
I'm with Dave, I'd bet they're not Girling so assuming they weren't buying a few off Teves at the time....
I *think* they're the same as the ones on my old 405 1.6, Bendix, same fitment as quite a few other french machines of the time. However, please check somewhere like
Pretty sure they're Bendix in the photo. I've worked with Renault 5s,
11s and 19s enough over the years to spot the difference.Renault varied on other late 1980s/early 1990s Renaults quite a bit between Bendix and Girling. Most have Bendix if they're not vented discs, and Girlings if they are vented. So the R5 GT Turbo (only UK R5 to have discs all round) has Girlings on the front (vented), and Bendix on the back (solid).
Rich.
