I have a rattling noise when the car is idling, and as the car accelerates it starts to power away and then power drops right off, could it be the catalytic converter broke loose internally causing the rattle, and blocking exhaust gas flow when trying to accelerate, it certainly feels like an exhaust problem.

This would be your starting point yes- sounds like a blocked exhaust to me, if the power begins to build as the turbo blows, but then it runs out of steam..
