Brake flexihose removal

I'll be replacing both front and one rear brake flexihose on a '92 VW Polo. The car has been in the family from new and these hoses have not been touched since the car was made. I'm bound to find that the hose connections are very very tight. Can anybody recommend a professional tool that can make removal simpler? I already have all the standard tools such as spanners, flare spanners (crow's foot) and vice grips.

Cheers, Adam

The right size spanner and a can of PlusGas.

Have you got one of those spanners that looks like a ring ( 6 point not 12 point ) but with a slot cut so you can use it on a pipe union ? I found these to be the best. Garages will often use heat from a welding torch. In addition to the usual application of Plus-Gas or similar, it sometimes helps to tighten VERY SLIGHTLY before attempting the untighthen - you know tighten until it just clicks/moves, and then untighten.

Of course, masses of good luck allways helps :-)

If you're throwing them away any way, it's sometimes easier just to cut the hose & pit a socket over the union.

That's what I meant by a flare spanner. But I like the suggesting of cutting the flexihose and using an ordinary hexagonal deep socket. Nice one.
