I know it's old, but the connector is there. Has anyone here tried it? I did, but I couldn't get any data out of it.

Works OK on a '97 Mk4 Fiesta - admittedly the 1.25 which may be different.
Are you sure you were using the right OBD variant, probably J1850 PWM for a Ford

No idea, I'm afraid. I have a cheap ELM327 thing that works fine in my 03 Fiesta, and the usual free software. It fits the Ka connector; flashes a bit (which I take to be a good sign), but beyond that the car and the software don't want to talk to each other. If I unscrew the connector, I guess that I can see which wires are connected, and work out which protocol it uses. But other than that, is there anything else I could check? Which software works with your Fiesta? Maybe the baud rate has to be set differently for older cars?
Guess you are out of luck then as the ELM327 supports all the access protocols and it worked on your other car so it is not a baud rate problem.
97 was before it became compulsory and quite a few vehicles had the OBD connector fitted ready (my 98 Peugot 406 for example) but no ECU firmware to support it :-(Chris K
