Diesel fuel pumps

Damage to fuel pumps if you're running with a decent filter's pretty rare. Usenet filters Sods law such that you see a much higher percentage than reality but Low Sulphur diesels been around for a very long in other countries so unless you're running on paint stripper & acid don't worry about it.

Oh s*it, does running diesels on paint stripper and acid not do them any good then?

Just curious, do diesel fuel pumps vary according to engine size, i.e. would a pump on say a 1.5 be the same as one fitted to a 2 litre engine?

Thanks Duncan, after reading different threads about various fuel qualities and possible damage caused to fuel pumps, I started wondering that if in the very unlikely event I ever had to cull one from a scrap engine, whether or not one-size-fits-all, especially as in the Haynes manual there's no mention of different Bosch pumps being fitted to various engine sizes.

Ah, so that's why the fuel filter and plastic pipes keep melting every few months!
