I've been told to avoid using Duckhams in my engine, as it causes 'mayonnaise??' and with prolonged use will screw my engine up. Does my colleague plan to create a new urban myth or is he actually correct.
Duckhams....

I'm thinking Urban Myth as "mayonnaise" tends to be caused by water mixing with the oil, but i'm not expert.
Over to you gents.

It would help if you told us which engine and which Duckhams oil. They're actually making more than one type and grade these days, y'know?
There's two. Citroen ZX Diesel 1.9 and Vauxhall Vectra 1.6 Petrol. Not sure about oil type - just the first one off shelf in a blue metal can ;)
20 years ago there was something in this. The Duckhams filled engine did indeed seem more prone to internal condensation turning to mayo. However, most engines seemed to suffer from this to some extent whatever oil they used. BL engines were terrible.

So *that's you're secret new car then!
Bastard!
Yep.
:-)
Ask him how he arrived at this opinion.
Just think what you've done for all the Skyline owners! ;-)
They'll stop getting nicked for speeding, insurance premiums go down and breakdown recovery goes up?
Sounds like a normal day in Timoland.
Right, I better get moving, got to pick up my mum from Luton airport...
LOL, indeed.
You'll be there before the plane takes off in that thing (if it don't break down first :-))
In news: snipped-for-privacy@nermal.unix-consult.com, Timo Geusch decided to enlighten our sheltered souls with a rant as follows
I got offered a GTS-T the other day, I *was* quite tempted..
Should be much more realistically priced now..

They aren't that expensive to buy. Insurance, however, falls into the "several limbs" category.
And they're very, very nice to drive, even the non-turbo ones.
Well, achieving the former is not that hard if the person you're picking up is flying in on sleazyjet...
The message from Timo Geusch contains these words:
Let's just hope it doesn't end up looking like this...

Most vehicles parked in Luton look like that...
LOL.

Maybe I'm just biased against Luton - a friend was driving through there on Friday evening, and had to stop at the roundabout heading up to the airport.
Ooops. No, he isn't. He's the other side of the roundabout completely with a 4x4 embedded in the back of his Beetle (a proper one, not a Golf)
Ooops. No, he isn't. He's in Hemel hospital spending the night gaffer taped to a sheet of MDF with whiplash so bad he can't actually feel his right arm.
Still, it was just an overnight stay, and it means he doesn't have to pine for the P6 that he saw but couldn't fund because he couldn't find anybody to buy the Beetle... I think the 4x4 driver's insurance just bought it.
Yes, I lived there for 15 years, why do you think I moved to Durham!.
I've never been a fan of Beetles, but that can't be replaced easily now.
Glad he's OK though.

J-reg MexiBeetle, so not *that* interesting/historic/rare. 'Orrible to drive. Not the greatest loss in the world.
Silly sod makes a habit of visiting A&E. I've never met anybody more jinxed.
