Handbreak Warning Light??

Hi All! Just a quick question. A friends mk1 Nissan micra has developed a fault (surprise surprise) Whenever she turns a corner in the car (speed doesnt matter apparently) the hand break warning light comes on.

Not knowing much about the car and what it uses to warn drivers about faults i was wondering would this be just a simple loose connection. Or would this be a warning for something else? Something more serious?

Thanks

Chris

If the hand break light is common with other break problems, it could be it is showing that the brake fluid is low. Check that out.

More likely to be low brake fluid.

could be the handbreake switch is loose and finding an earth under extreme cornering i.e. when the seats or seatbelts are pulling against the carpetor wiring.

Yes - it could, but it's more likely to be low fluid.

Could simply be a very sensitive adjusted switch which is activated when cornering; try ensuring the hand brake is fully down and not standing up a tad ! Couple of mm could do it.
