high idle 1992 peugeot 405

MINT WHITE 92DL AT 405 80k miles, interior showroom

idles at cold start at 3000!, and maybe 1/2 hour later it will stay at

1300.

one night i popped the computer out when i was looking for certain fuses... maybe its this?

or should i disconnect the battery and let it sit?

ive also fooled around the the throttle cable a little, but im going out to check it tomorrow....

Do you think i should pop the computer, disconnect battery and let it sit??

or check the thermostat or coolant temperature sensor?

thanks, JOHN in MAINE

Perhaps, but I doubt it.

That might do something, depends whats wrong.

Well make sure there's a tiny bit of slack at the engine end of the cable to make sure you're not opening the throttle with the cable at idle.

That's what I'd do. Along with perhaps cleaning the airflow sensor and making sure all the breathers that go into the oil filler are free from grot and sludge.

i did the initializing thing. turn off ignition 10 seconds, turn on

10 seconds...and repeat this 3 x. Didnt work. then disconnected battery, disconnected ECV, then let sit 1 hour...and reconnected ECV, then reconnected battery, and initialized again... Still no luck..

throttle mechanism looks ok, with a little slack.

MUST be a sensor or thermostat....

thanks , JOHN
