Fred was thinking very hard :
In the old days, I would carry enough kit to tackle almost anything which was fixable at the road side, but cars are now much more complex.
Here is what I have at the moment in my boot...
- Spare alternator belt.
- Spare a/c belt (Both are old ones, kept as spares).
- Exhaust bandage + Gun Gum.
- Spare set of lamps.
- Length of rope - good for two rope etc.
- An homemade pair of jumper leads.
- Insulation tape + Duct Tape + length of steel wire + length of insulated wire.
- Multi meter, plus a 12v test lamp.
- Engine diagnostics unit
- Several rags
- Tyre pressure gauge
- Portable 12v tyre compressor with light.
- LED 12v rechargeable light.
- Set of cheap ring and open ender spanners, various screwdrivers, pliers.
- Breakdown triangle
- The cars own jack and wheel-brace + a nifty extending one.
I'm sure there is more in there, but I no longer carry the 1/2" drive socket set I used to always carry.
