Hello,With the dark nights and my recent problems with my car, I am lookingfor an inspection lamp. Up to now I've been managing with a torch.What type do you recommend?Have the filament bulb type been banned yet? I saw some in Halfordsbut they looked a bit plasticky. IIRC they were 12v versions. What'sthe logic about these: that you can use them anywhere by plugging intoyour cigar socket? Are they any better/worse than the mains poweredones?Thanks,Stephen.

Thanks. The recommendations seem to be rough service, 12v, or cfl. I thought cfls were often slightly longer than the gls bulbs they replaced. Some lights enclose the bulb in a cage, others in a "jam jar". Have you run into any problems where the cfl doesn't fit into these because its too long?

some cfls are long, some are short. It is easy to find one which will fit nowadays.
