i recently wrote in with a problem on my mondeo and came to the en



concluesion of a vacume leak but also one subject was wrong oil iv always used 20w/50 or 15w/40 as its not to thick but thick enough to not open any egsisting leaks o problems but ive been advised that a grade 5w/30 would be best for my car i told this to my dad and he disagreed as he taught me to use 15w o



20w as its most commonly used in elder cars what should i say t convince him that a thiner oil is better for my car and why its bette ???

Tell himew that 5w/30 is Ford's standard oil for the Modeo and always has been. If you use anything thicker the valves stick.

This engine is the reason anywhere even sells 5w/30, I can't think of anything else that *needs* it the way Mondeos do.

Your dad is completely wrong. Modern engines require thinner oil. Despite the age of your mondeo, it is a modern engine.

20W/50 is only any good for old Fiesta pushrod engines.

Tell him to read the sodding manual. The oil is thin for a very good reason - and the internals of the engines like self-adjusting tappets etc rely on having the correct oil.
