Synthetic oil for a Mondeo TD and cluch issue

I've just bought a 130bhp Mondeo TD and am after some recomendations and prices for a good semi or fully synthetic oil. I've used Miller's XFE for years in previous engines but technology must have moved on by now. Any top tips and cheapest places to buy would be appreciated ?

Incidentally the car seems to have thesharpest cluch which I have ever operated, is this normal on this car (I understand it is possibly due to the fact that it has a dual mass flywheel whatever that is) or can it be adjusted in any way ?

I must say, I always use the oil provided by Ford in mine in case I screw the warranty.

My clutch is fine.

IME, use the Ford Rapidfit service. Oil & filter change for ~25ukp. I can't even buy the oil for that much.

If you insist on doing it yourself, I'd *really* recommend getting the real Ford stuff from the service desk. It's not any dearer than other brands, and you know it's the right one for your engine (5W-30)

Perfectly normal. You'll get used to it. I did! It's not adjustable. You just learn to slip the clutch a little.

Millers XFD fully synthetic. I take it in with me, the dealer fits it. They never complain, it saves me over paying for their oil by the 0.5 litre and it's good stuff!

Normal. Almost everyone who leaps into a manual TDCi Mondeo stalls it at first, especially if you're used to diesels. You get used to it.

Is there a reason for the manufacturer recommending 10/40 SAE for one country and 5/40 for another country for the same engine?

I know that the sae relates to viscosity at various temps and the API CH4 / ACEA B3 relates to performance protection but would say, using a 5/40 sae fully synthetic instead of a 10/40 mineral based oil be a good/bad idea for an older type engine (diesel or petrol)
