Modeo 2.Ol petrol engine 51 plate as fitted to LD convoy

Hi,

I'm looking at recommissioning the LPG system on LDV Convoy with above engine and looking under the bonnet trying to work out whats normal and whats added and whats missing (and why!).

On the exhaust side of the engine there is what seems to be a vacuum rail with pipes into each cyclinder - on the end of this rail is some sort of vacuum valve and the pipes for this are disconnected and blocked up - they seem to lead round to the inlet manifold.

I'm guessing its some sort of scavenging sytstem for unburnt fuel?

Van run fine as is but dunno what it actually does and should it be connected? Was it disconnected because of LPG system or is there some other reason?

Cheers

sounds most like the exhaust gas recirculating system, which is not actually necessary for good running, but helps improve the tailpipe emissions.

This will be the secondary air injection- used at cold start to help dilute the rich mixture, and also allow the cat to come up to working temp faster. Pretty much pointless on an LPG engine...
