Astra Exhaust and Exhaust Gas Valve Regulator

Sep 14, 2010 2 Replies

Hi - Had the Exhaust Gas Valve Regulator replaced in my 2000 1.6 8v Astra about 18 months ago.

Only done about 4000 miles since it was replaced. Engine is now showing the same symptoms as it did before EGRV was replaced ie jerky and cutting out at low revs. Only does it occasionally.

This time, I've noticed that the exhaust has started blowing a tiny amount, not sure where from yet, it is only just noticeable.

Would the exhaust starting to blow affect the EGRV? If I replace the exhaust should this resolve the prob or should I just bite the bullet and get a diagnostics check?

Thanks,

Trev

it will give idle trouble if stuck open, so when it does its trick take off the egr and have a look, sometimes there is just a bit of coke stuck in it, changing to good fuel reduces this problem. or just get the egr valve removed and blanked off and get the ecu reprogrammed to ignore it (stops the light coming on.) a small blow will make little difference, but should be fixed in any case.

Thanks Mr. Cheerful, will have a look at it.
