Nexia ABS warning light ARGH!

My ABS warning light is permanently on. I can't for the life of me get the car to skid. For the last two MOTs two different garages have checked the ABS out because of the light and said it's functioning correctly despite the constant warning light.

Is there any fix for this, or would it cos me an arm and a leg at a Daewoo dealership to get to the bottom of?

I'd just quite like a warning light that worked, so I did know should my ABS fail!

Do you know what system is fitted to your car? I presume it's a Vauxhall one? Might be able to get a diagnostic check done at a local Vauxhall garage to find out what is faulty? I was told that a lit ABS light is a instant fail, doesn't matter if the system works or not, if the light is on (or not behaving as it should, i.e. on then off) you get a fail sheet?

Not recommended , But you could wire it to the oil light for the mot if the abs DOES work & change things back afterwards .

I don't see why cars should fail for non-abs function, afterall normal brakes work just as well as any other car without ABS and I can stop quicker without it anyway....

Only problem is a few older cars which use a high pressure accumulator for a servo, total failure results in a rock-hard pedal and ££££ to repair....and probably why originally it was an MOT fail point...

A very common problem with the ABS on these cars is the metal holding the wheel sensors in place tends to corrode and move forward. Usually when this happens the ABS light still functions correctly (goes out a few seconds after starting up) but comes on again as soon as you start to move.
