over heating BMW E34 91 2litre

Hi all.I noticed last week the gauge suddenly shot up almost into the red whiledriving in free flowing traffic..I changed the water pump, having being told that was the cause. Still didit, changed the thermostat yesterday, bled the radiator, took it around theblock and again almost back into the red, goes up very fast..Removed the rad, flushed it out both ways for ages, put it back on....sameproblem.That leads me to the rad as the problem, water is going around the blockfine, pump is working.....but someone says i must jack up the front to bleedthe rad.Is it possible that it is the rad at fault even though the water from thehose flows both ways ok?I have not got a manual for this car, and never had to bleed a rad in mylife, so can someone tell me the correct order to make sure it is doneright, so it either fixes the problem, or proves its the rad...a new rad isway expensive for me but if needs must.Also what would be the ratio to water/coolant? i have asked around on a BMWgroup but they didnt reply and usually say whats wrong, but not how to fixit or order of steps so im stuck a little.thanks!

THe 24V lump. It's not anywhere near as bad as K series but apparently that's the mileage that they go at if they're going to go.

Well i flushed it again, did it, bled it twice and took it on a nice long drive....well ok 5 miles but it stayed dead centre....thats 4.95 miles further than before!! so it seems ok now....

I did notice i had the heater on full, warp factor 10 but it came out warm.....i knew the heater didnt work when i got it but had a few cars like that, never botherd me before.

all seems fine!

I'm afraid that suggests an airlock...

Are the hoses all standard ones?

ah. if i bleed it again and again, would that sort it? I think the guy i got it from mentioned it was something else
