Engine sounds ro ugh but ticks over. Have a light on saying filter blocked? Air filter? Oil filter? Fuel filter? Any help or advice will help

It is always helpful if you mention the model year.

Add DPF* to your list of filters...

*DPF = Diesel particulate filter.

Well you can remove the air filter & look at it, but most likely fuel filter. When where they last changed?

?? Particulate filter sounds like its blocked

Its a 2005 (55) now wont start at all just turns over

I would respectfully suggest you are not going to be able to DIY this.

What mileage is the vehicle on?

Does it have a central message panel, and if so what is the exact message?

If you still decide to try, what is the service history? The fuel filter must be replaced every 36k miles; when was it last done? If not recently, try that first, but make certain you (or whoever does it) knows how to.

It's certainly going to be fault-code o'clock.

My mother's 207HDi had a similar tantrum a little while back. Bing! Anti- pollution fault! Bing!

Recovery guy finally arrived, fault code reader said one code - fuel pressure low - cleared it, and it's been fine ever since.
