Pug cable

Hi Folks,

Whilst mending (we hope) the sticking accelerator cable on my Pug 106 1.5d I noticed another cable fixed to the same part below this and nearer the slam panel. Following the cable back it enters the top end of the engine at the gearbox end through a rubber gromet.

Any ideas what it is and what it does?

Sounds like the clutch cable

The speedo works through a white plug connected into the top of the gearbox and the clutch cable works through a mechanism fitted to the top of the gearbox situated underneath the battery housing.

I've tried pressing and pulling everything and it doesn't move. When I pull it by hand it does move though. Wierd!

It drives the rear wheels..
