Its called "the learning curve".

In future you will realise that "High Tensile Peanut Butter" is not the ideal material for screwdrivers :-)

Just because I've got doesn't mean I chose it :P.

And that having a screwdriver that actually fits the screw in some reasonable way is handy.

Depends on the screw. Many modern wood screws are so hard they will knacker the screwdriver over time.

Snap off tools - rather than snap on?

The chocolate tool box?

Gotta stick up for Halfords I'm afraid - I hate them as much as the next guy, and would never dream of buying car parts from them, but their tool range is actually pretty good and well priced.

"Doki" mumbled:

Time to put your hand in your pocket and get a decent screwdriver?

Dave Plowman mumbled:

I've used those bits that Screwfix sell with diamond dust embedded into the driving faces of a Supadriv bit. Brilliant...the really grip the screw and are excellent for using with a leccy screwdriver. Not cheap...of course, which is why I don't actually have any of my own....

Yes - I treated myself to a set. But I haven't seen the technology applied to 'ordinary' screwdrivers.

I got a set of the wera ones over a year ago, still got them, not a single one knackered.

Yup - I screwed down a whole large room's worth of floorboards with no sign of wear - a normal one would have been getting iffy by then.
