Restoring Alloy Wheels

Just been watching Wheeler Dealers where Ed, the mechanic, restored some alloys using his angle grinder and some kind of attachment to get rid of the crap off them.

Does anyone have any ideas what attachments would be used to clean then buff them? And where to get them from?

thanks Millan

They'd also need repainting. I watched a pair of episodes on the MK1 Golf the other day, a car I actually know a small amount about. To say it was technically inaccurate was a bit of an understatement.

Alloy wheels are best powder coated. Go and pay a man to blast and powder coat them, expect around £25-£30 a wheel. It's not possible to spray most alloy wheels properly given their shape.

I still can't get over them paying £1500 for a recon Porsche gearbox when a £30 part had failed.
