Seatbelt stalks.

I think it's a trip to the scrappy time and find a car where the seatbelt bit looks the same as yours. Fittings are pretty universal.

There's a PILE of subtle differences... I've tried to match 'em, and found ones that look very similar but just don't play.

Also - which car's this for, Dave? SD1? Because if it's the BM, don't forget the fireworks - which are in that end of the belt bits...

There are three basic types of tongue. There's the K12 - a thing with a rectangular hole in, the arrowhead and the mushroom head. The two latter are similar but not interchangeable.

What I've done in the past, to make it easier to plug in booster seats etc is to wander round the scrappies and find a stalk of the right sort and length and snaffle it.

Oh, and there's also the odd thing you sometimes see on aftermarket belts - a round hole with a slot in it - can't remember the name of the firm that made 'em though.

I'll bet that the type that bolt to the seat don't have a std round hole, also if you extend them the seat belt may not operate as it should and might let you submarine under it if you crash. if you really want to move it out a bit then cut and weld the ones you have.

I had the to change the broken seat frame on my old E34 BMW and that required a change of 'stalk' as well and I've got the old one. The hole is identical to the one on the SD1, but the clipping mechanism different.

I'm only talking about moving it up a couple of inches at most. People vary in size by more than that.

Not 'out' but 'up'. But in any case extending the steel bracket of the clip would look really crappy. A flexible stalk is designed to be seen.

depends on your skills how good it could look, all the flexibles I can think of are quite long and bolt to the floor, the type that go on the seat are usually fixed or just swivel a bit. I'll have a hunt through my big box of seat belt spares and see if I can spot something.
